The Congressional Meeting

The election of a new Congress gives state and local Leagues the opportunity to meet with newly elected and returning members of Congress.  The primary purpose of the congressional meeting is to help you develop a working relationship with your representatives on Capitol Hill.  It will also be helpful for the LWVUS to be able to gauge support for some important issues in the upcoming 111th Congress.

Over the years, Leagues have used the congressional meeting to touch base with returning members of Congress (MCs) or to introduce the League to new MCs.  It also provides a forum to discuss upcoming legislative priorities, find common ground on issues and renew or open up the lines of communication.  Meeting with newly elected members is especially important so they will know where we stand on the issues.

The deadline for submitting the reply form from the congressional meeting is February 1. However, if your League is represented by a new member, please try to make it a priority to visit that representative before the start of the new Congress.

Please note you will be prompted to log in as a member to access the privileged information.  If this is your first time logging into the LWVUS Web site, please go here to set up your personal password:  LWV Online System.  If you have forgotten your password, then please go here to have it emailed to you: Get Password
