What a historic decision and victory for voters! Last week, the Pennsylvania State Supreme Court responded to voters concerns by ruling that the legislature’s redistricting plan does NOT meet state Constitution standards. Pennsylvania State League President Olivia Thorne called the successful citizen appeal “a real victory for Pennsylvania voters...[that] reinforces the need to replace the Commonwealth’s broken redistricting system with one that puts the interests of the voters first.” The League had supported the challenge, brought by voters before the state Supreme Court, arguing that the legislative redistricting plan “violates [the state’s Constitution] on a pervasive, statewide scale.” Read more here and share thoughts on this decision and what’s happening in other states.
