LWVEF has once again teamed up with the Newspaper in Education Institute (NIE) to produce “Electing the President”, a supplement designed to help voters, especially young and first-time voters, understand the presidential election process. NIE, a collaboration of various newspapers’ ‘Newspaper in Education’ programs throughout the country, produces educational inserts for the papers and provides the newspapers and other materials to local schools. NIE is now in the process of distributing the “Electing” supplement to their associated “Newspaper in Education” programs across the country. Leagues are encouraged to reach out to participating local newspapers and request that they run the insert and/or make copies available to local schools. In order to cover costs associated with printing the insert, Leagues are encouraged to work with their newspapers to collaboratively raise funding from local businesses or foundations.
