Because as we GROW the League we help to strengthen our muscle for positive impact on issues we care about, all Leagues are invited to participate in our effort to show how we’ve grown as we’ve helped our democracy “Power the Vote” in 2012! From protecting the right to vote and protecting clean air to reforming the obscene amounts of hidden money in our political system and breaking down partisan divides, our communities and our country needs us! Held by the public and policymakers with great respect, we are a mighty organization -- one that many, many people want to join. So let’s make sure we ask them!
We have a simple 3-part opportunity to acknowledge and publicly celebrate those Leagues that are actively engaging prospective members.
- Reach out to prospective members by January 11 and your League could win some great visibility tools: LWV buttons!
- Update ALL the expiration dates on member records in the national database by January 25 for your League and be eligible to win a $25 Staples gift card!
- Show a net growth in membership numbers from Jan. 2012-Jan. 2013 by the deadline of January 31to be eligible to win a free registration to the LWVUS Convention in 2014 in Dallas, TX!
Winners will be announced in the Thursday Leader’s Update in January and February. While we hope you’ll participate in all 3 opportunities, you are not required to do so to be eligible to win in any one category.
Here are further details on each category:
1. Reach out to Prospective members. We want to know about your follow-up outreach to prospective members who participated in your League events this election season. Email a list of your League’s prospects (the names and contact information of prospective members) to membership@lwv.org by January 11, and your League could win some great visibility tools: LWV buttons! The 3 Leagues with the largest number of prospects will be rewarded. 5 more Leagues, with a list of at least 10 names, will be selected at random for a prize. Prospects will NOT be contacted by LWVUS. Don’t forget to ASK these prospective members to join your League!
2. Update ALL the expiration dates on member records in the national database by January 25 for your League and be eligible to win a $25 Staples gift card! All Leagues who have updated the expiration dates by January 25th will be placed in a drawing; five Leagues will win and be announced in the Leader’s Update.

3. Show a net growth in membership numbers from Jan. 2012 - Jan. 2013 by the member count deadline of January 31 to be eligible to win a free registration to the LWVUS National Convention in 2014 in Dallas, TX. The top 3 Leagues with largest percentage net growth will win one free registration each! All other Leagues demonstrating net growth will be placed in drawing for 2 additional free registrations.
