"When I volunteered to maintain my local league’s website, little did I know I was going to get a lot more than just technology experience. Soon I was helping with candidate forums, naturalization ceremonies, and learning about local issues. I learned so much about how government works, especially on the local level.
I was reminded that women had only had the right to vote in the U.S. for 85 years at that time. It was a privilege I had taken for granted previously.
Working with my local league has enabled me to meet some remarkable people, gain leadership skills and become a better public speaker. I wouldn’t trade my League experience for anything."
