A one-day conference titled "Women and the Rule of Law: A View from the Americas" was held on February 27, 2013, in Washington, DC, sponsored by the League of Women Voters, the Inter-American Dialogue, and the International Association of Women Judges.

The central purpose was to draw on the collective experience of a group of accomplished women judges from across the Americas to develop recommendations on how to enhance the positive role of women in the judiciary and at the same time bring attention to the fact that in no country in the Western Hemisphere does the number of women judges reach the proportion of women in the population at large, nor are women represented in equal numbers in the highest courts.

The result of this conference is found in the new English-Spanish publication "Women and the Judiciary in the Americas: Leadership and Outcomes - La Mujer y el Poder Judicial en las Americas: Liderazgo y Resultados." See both documents in .pdf format below.
