    League of Salina Hosts Annual Meeting featuring Kansas Supreme Court Justice Eric Rosen

    Kansas Supreme Court Justice Eric S. Rosen presented in place of Justice Carol Beier as keynote speaker of the Salina League of Women Voters Annual Meeting.  He spoke about the everyday value of judicial diversity on the bench, and why diversity should be important to even those who are not considered diverse themselves.

    League of Salina Holds Diversity Forum at Kansas Wesleyan University

    Kansas Supreme Court Justice Carol A. Beier, Kansas Court of Appeals Judge Henry Green, Magistrate Judge in Riley County District Court Sheila Hochhauser spoke about judicial demographics in Kansas, implicit bias, and the importance of a varied bench at the "What Does a Judge Look Like?" forum organized by the League of Women Voters of Salina and Kansas Wesleyan University.  The judges also discussed their own paths to their current positions, how their diversity affects their work as judges, and their views of judicial diversity in general.

    League of Topeka/Shawnee County Hosts Professor Jeffrey Jackson for First Tuesday Topics Meeting

    The League of Women Voters of Topeka/Shawnee County held the first of multiple meetings highlighting judicial diversity, featuring remarks from Professor Jeffrey Jackson of Washburn University.  For the next six months, the League met at the library to discuss judicial diversity for monthly "Tuesday Topics" sessions.

    League of Salina Presents to the Saline County Board of Commissioners

    The President of the League of Women Voters of Salina, Ann Zimmerman, presented to the Saline Board of County Commissioners on the League’s "Quest for a More Diverse Judiciary" education campaign.  She highlighted the current state of diversity in the courts in Saline County.  The County Commissioners in Saline County are responsible for selecting the county’s nominating commissioners.

    League of Lawrence/Douglas County Celebrates 90th Anniversary with Diversity Reception

    The League of Women Voters of Lawrence/Douglas County held a reception to celebrate the League's 90th anniversary and to get to know the Douglas County Judicial Nominating Commission and County Commissioners.  Attendees included Douglas County Commissioners Mike Gaughan, Nancy Thellman, and Jim Flory; Kansas 7th District Nominating Commission Members Joan Nitcher, Janine Cox, and Kurt von Achen; Douglas County Justices Robert W. Fairchild, Jean Shepherd, Michael Malone, Paula Martin, and Judge George; Lawrence Bar Association Officer Richard Hird; and Kansas University Administration Coordinator Karen Hester.

    League of Johnson County Holds Meeting with Board of Commissioners
