As I went about my day on Election Day volunteering to be a polling place evaluator for my local League (a program instituted by the Board of Elections done in partnership with the League to make sure voters have what they need, poll workers and election judges have what they need and systems are working well on election day) – I thought about the millions of unsung hero’s without whom our democracy would grind to a halt.

Last week we shared updates on changes in voting procedures in the many states affected by Hurricane Sandy. These states sought to mitigate the impact on voters. Over the weekend several new changes have been announced in New York, New Jersey and Maryland.

Below are the new changes voters need to be aware of as of 9:30 am ET on Monday November 5, 2012:

New York:

In reviewing states (CT, DE, DC, FL, GA, ME, MD, MA, NH, NJ, NC, OH, PA, RI, SC, VT, VA and WV) that have been affected by Hurricane Sandy we found that most states have not changed their voting procedures. However, some states that were hardest hit have extended hours for registration and early voting.
