I’ve just come from the Membership and Leadership Development training with League members in Illinois and I’m struck by the passion, knowledge and commitment of these true defenders of democracy.

It’s a fact – we are truly in the breakneck pace of the election cycle. Governor Mitt Romney has selected his running mate; President Obama and Governor Romney have accepted their party’s nomination at the national conventions; and the first debate is less than a month away. In a time when politicians always seem to be campaigning, the light at the end of the tunnel is beginning to burn a little brighter.
