Moving Beyond Election Reflections
| Elisabeth MacNamaraOnly a few short weeks have passed since Election Day, but it already feels like a lifetime ago. No longer are voters in swing states subjected to nonstop political ads, and the evening news is once again covering a host of national and international issues instead of just wall-to-wall coverage of the presidential campaign. But, Election Day was as much a starting line as it was an end point. Now is the time to reflect back on the 2012 election and look toward what’s to come in 2013.

League Signs On to Amicus Brief in Texas Voter Registration Case
Recent changes to Texas law make it extremely difficult for voter registration groups to sign up new voters, violating the First Amendment and the National Voter Registration Act, argues the Brennan Center for Justice in an amicus brief with the League of Women Voters and Rock the Vote. The amicus brief urges the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit to block the Texas law and affirm a lower court decision that enjoined the harsh restrictions.
