On Monday, June 11 at 7:30 am during the 2012 biannual convention of the League of Women Voters, 65 interested and/or passionate UN advocates attended the UN Caucus led by UN Observers Rosalee Keech and Mary Fox.
Side event organized at the Fifth Forum on the Eradication of Poverty entitled, "Promoting Productive Capacity, Employment and Decent Work to Eradicate Poverty for Achieving the Millennium Development Goals." Side event will be head at UN Headquarters and is co-sponsored by NGO Branch of UN DESA, UN OHRLLS, UN ILO and organized by the Women's Federation for World Peace International (WFWPI) and WPWP USA. The UN held a day long conference April 3, 2012 on fighting human trafficking. Of special interest were expert panelists representing the UN, business, academia and the media. Ms. Marta Santos Pais, Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General on Violence Against Children, has just released the 2012 Annual Report on the state of the world's efforts to eradicate violence against children. Ms. Santos Pais and her staff are working with the League's UN Observers in a project to bring awareness of trafficking of minors during major sporting events.
