  • The first annual International Day of the Girl will be celebrated on Thursday, October 11, 2012 with a special panel discussion: BEST PRACTICES: Preventing Child Exploitation at Major Events. Speakers include: Abigail Lawlis Kuzma Office of the Indiana Attorney General -- Director and Chief Counsel of Consumer Protection. The Indiana Attorney General ran an anti-human trafficking campaign during Super Bowl 2012. David Arkless is ManpowerGroup's Global President of Corporate and Government Affairs.

  • A meeting of the UN's Special Reprresentative to the Secretary General (SRSG) to Prevent Violence Against Children, Ms. Marta Santos Pais, her Special Assistant, Mr. Joost Koojmans, Director of UN Washington Office, Mr. Rodney Bent, and US Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ) and his Senior Policy Advisor, Ms. Jodi B. Herman and the League's UN Observer, Ms.

  • On Monday, June 11 at 7:30 am during the 2012 biannual convention of the League of Women Voters, 65 interested and/or passionate UN advocates attended the UN Caucus led by UN Observers Rosalee Keech and Mary Fox.

  • Congratulations to  Mary Fox, 1st LWVUS Alternate UN Observer on her appointment as Chair of the UN's  2012 International Day of Older Persons.  This year's program celebrates the 10th anniversary of the Madrid International Plan of Action adopted by the Second World Assembly to respond to the opportunities and challenges of the ageing population in the 21st century.

  • The UN held a day long conference April 3, 2012 on fighting human trafficking.  Of special interest were expert panelists representing the UN, business, academia and the media.  The League's UN Observers were there and was the only NGO that was invited to make a statement, "Thank you for the opportunity to speak.  I'd like to echo the comments of Prof.
