Our Youth Voter Registration Program kicked off in nearly 40 communities nationwide. League volunteers in 15 states will visit local high schools, community colleges and technical/vocational schools to help young people get registered and ready to vote in 2014.
The League is able to participate fully in the case between the states of Kansas and Arizona and the Election Assistance Commission (EAC) on documentary proof-of-citizenship on voter registration forms.
It is possible that when we look back at 2013, it will be seen as a watershed year - a year that America hit a turning point in the battle for voting rights and recognized that we must do what we can to expand access to the polls, instead of creating new barriers that make it more difficult to vote.
This week the League of Women Voters Education Fund, together with the Inter-American Dialogue, and the International Association of Women Judges, is sponsoring a conference entitled “Women and the Rule of Law: The View from the Americas.”
