Making sure your right to vote remained accessible was a major focus of the League of Women Voters of Door County in 2022.

MADISON — On August 17, 2022,  a settlement was finalized in federal court in Wisconsin to reinstate more than 31,000 registered voters who were purged from the voter rolls in 2021. The settlement also requires the state to set up a system for protecting registered voters from unlawful removal from the rolls.

Absentee ballot drop boxes, which were used in hundreds of communities during the COVID-19 pandemic, are now illegal in the state except in clerk’s offices, a divided Wisconsin Supreme Court ruled just one month before the Aug. 9 primary.

MADISON, Wis.  — Wisconsin’s Supreme Court was scheduled to hear arguments Wednesday in a case that will likely determine how extensively absentee ballot drop boxes can be used in the upcoming midterm election where the battleground state’s Democratic governor and Republican U.S. senator are on the ballot.

LWV of Wisconsin filed suit in federal court to reinstate more than 31,000 registered Wisconsin voters who were purged from the voter rolls in July 2021.
