Annual Report of the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General on Violence Against Children
Ms. Marta Santos Pais, Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General on Violence Against Children, has just released the 2012 Annual Report on the state of the world's efforts to eradicate violence against children. Ms. Santos Pais and her staff are working with the League's UN Observers in a project to bring awareness of trafficking of minors during major sporting events.

Good afternoon, good afternoon. Thank you, Melanne for that very kind introduction, and for your extraordinary leadership, in a rather short tenure, you have already improved the lives of women not just in the United States, but of course, around the world. So thank you— for everything that you do each and every day.
I also want to thank Ambassador DiCarlo for welcoming us here today, of course my dear friend Susan Rice for her extraordinary leadership here at the U.S. Mission to the United Nations.

UN LAUNCHES WEB PORTAL TO HELP YOUNG WOMEN PURSUE TECHNOLOGY CAREERS
The United Nations launched a new web portal today focusing on helping girls and women access job opportunities, training and career advice in the information and communication technology (ICT) sector.
UNITED NATIONS OBSERVERS
In 1945, at the UN Charter Conference, the League of Women Voters was invited by President Harry Truman to serve as a consultant to the U.S. delegation. Since that time, the League has continued its presence at the United Nations through its one official and two alternate observers.
