The brief in Arizona v. Inter Tribal Council argues that the National Voter Registration Act (NVRA) blocks a documentary proof-of-citizenship requirement to register to vote imposed by the state of Arizona.

On Wednesday, September 12, LWVUS President Elisabeth Macnamra testified before the U.S. Senate Committee on the Judiciary at a hearing entitled "The Citizens United Court and the Continuing Importance of the Voting Rights Act."

LWVUS sent a letter to the U.S. Senate asking Senators to vote for cloture on S. 3369, the DISCLOSE Act of 2012. The DISCLOSE Act is expected to come to the floor of the Senate on Monday, July 16.

LWVFL and Brennan Center sent a letter to the FL Secretary of State outlining in greater depth the problems with Florida’s illegal systematic purge.

The Flordia League, with the LWVUS and the Brennan Center, filed this amicus brief in support of the US Department of Justice suit challenging the illegal and inaccurate voter purge initiated by the state of Florida.  The National Voter Registration Act bars systematic voter purges within 90 days of an election.

The League and coalition partners sent the following letter to members of the U.S. Senate asking them to oppose an amendment on the Financial Services and General Government Appropriations bill that would eliminate funding for the Election Assistance Commission.

The Election Audits Task Force was convened in spring 2008 by President Mary Wilson with the charge to produce a report taking a comprehensive view of election audits. Audits should go beyond Election Day activities and functions, and examine all aspects of the election process. Leagues should find this report useful in talking with their legislatures and elections officials about election auditing.
