League of Women Voters of Florida goes mobile
| KellyAs presidential candidates pounded the campaign trail this week, the Florida League debuted an innovative “Be Ready to Vote” mobile campaign, designed to help inform Florida voters about their current registration status and increase voter turnout at the polls. Through these efforts, mobile phone users are prompted to enter their name and date of birth to check their voter status, update their voter information or have their questions answered by an elections official. Win for voters in Georgia this week
| KellyThis week brought good news for Georgia voters. A U.S. District Judge cleared the way for a lawsuit by voting rights groups to go forward. The suit asks the court to mandate that the State of Georgia fully comply with the National Voter Registration Act (NVRA) particularly with respect to providing voter registration forms at public assistance agencies both in person and online. Demos and other groups hailed this court order.

Earlier this year, the Florida League had to cease their voter registration activities, which they have performed without a problem for 72 years.
