Standing Up for Reproductive Rights
In March of 2018, the Center for Reproductive Rights filed a lawsuit challenging the fifteen-week abortion ban that was passed by the Mississippi state legislature. The League filed an amicus brief in support.
Promoting Fair Congressional Maps
LWVNC v. Rucho is a Supreme Court case challenging North Carolina’s 2016 redistricting plan as an unconstitutional partisan gerrymander and a violation of the First and Fourteenth amendments.

Standing Against Voter Discrimination
Shelby County is a historic legal challenge to key voting protections of the Voting Rights Act, which LWV joined as amicus, arguing that the law’s provision for federal oversight of local election procedures was needed to protect voters of color.
