ABOUT LWVUS
The League of Women Voters, a nonpartisan political organization, has fought for over 100 years to improve American systems of government and impact public policies through education, advocacy, and litigation. The enduring vitality and resonance of the League as a trusted force for change and good government comes from its unique decentralized structure: a national organization with strong partnerships at the grassroots level with more than 760 state and local Leagues across the country, including the District of Columbia.
At the national level, League activities are coordinated and staffed by two distinct but complementary organizations: The League of Women Voters of the United States (LWVUS) and the League of Women Voters Education Fund (LWVEF).
POSITION SUMMARY
The Director of Corporate and Organizational Partnerships will be responsible for developing and managing relationships with corporate partners who are interested in supporting the League’s work, with key focuses on: generating revenue, promoting additional pipelines of civic engagement, increasing voter engagement, expanding the Brand of the League in new and expanding audiences.
This individual will work closely with the League's executive leadership team to build strategic partnerships with businesses that share the organization's goals.
The Director of Corporate and Organizational Partnerships also serves as a key point person representing the League in partnerships, developing high-impact relationships with major associations, corporate and other allies, and developing mutually beneficial partner programs to increase the League’s impact, visibility, and connections at the national, state and local levels.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and implement a comprehensive corporate/civic/association partnership strategy to drive revenue and engagement to advance the League’s mission and strategic goals.
- Lead the development and execution of partnerships, raising the visibility and impact of the League’s priority programs.
- Identify and cultivate relationships with corporate partners that align with the nonprofit's mission and values.
- Work closely with corporate/civic/association partners to develop customized engagement plans that meet their needs and goals.
- Collaborate across departments/teams to create compelling proposals and sponsorship packages for corporate partners.
- Manage all corporate/civic/association partnership aspects, including contract negotiations, partnership activations, and relationship management.
- Ensure that all corporate/civic/association partnerships adhere to ethical standards and support the League's nonpartisan, civic engagement-focused mission and policie
- Clearly delineate and execute a strategy to promote and enlist companies on subscribing to the League’s white-labeled “VOTE411.org” website.
- Work ‘across League’ at LWVUS and with state and local Leagues to ensure promises to our partners around League capacity, volunteer opportunities, VOTE411, and other partnership agreements are met and exceeded.
- Develop and implement metrics and reporting systems to track the success of corporate partnerships and make data-driven decisions to optimize future partnerships.
- Run trainings on how LWV staff and members can engage with companies and other organizations and potentially run trainings for the companies/organizations on how best to work with the League. They will serve as a translator from the corporate environment to the civic environment and vice versa.
- Represent the organization at conferences, events, and other external engagements to promote corporate partnerships and increase awareness of the nonprofit's mission.
- Spearhead and ensure successful implementation of key programs with our partners that lead to national elections projects, including working with Organizing to develop one-stop-shop volunteer efforts for non-League staff to support nonpartisan voter engagement through activities such as “friend banks” and other volunteer opportunities.
- Speak and present publicly on the League’s leadership around partnerships, and work to showcase some of the most successful wins in appropriate corporate/association media. Provide expert support to improve overall impact tracking and development of best practices across the organization.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in nonprofits, business, marketing, or a related field; Masters/JD/MBA degree preferred or equivalent experience.
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILLS
- 7+ years of progressively responsible experience in nonprofit program management
- At least three years of experience in corporate or association partnership or business development, preferably in the nonprofit sector.
- Relational and communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to cultivate and manage relationships with corporate partners.
- Ability to “speak the language” of companies and organizations within the non-democracy space and understand the incentives and drivers of these organizations to promote partnership with the LWV.
- Understanding nonprofit fundraising and development best practices.
- Excellent communication skills, including effectively presenting complex information to corporate partners and internal stakeholders.
- Proven ability to communicate clearly and effectively with multiple simultaneous audiences and at various levels of the organization.
- Very strong writing, editing, messaging, and presentation skills
- Team and collaborative engagement skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively across teams and departments.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
- Demonstrated track record in advocacy, political and/or nonprofit communications.
- Proven ability to develop and sustain fruitful relationships with high-profile partners and supporters.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

- A strong understanding of and passion for voting rights and electoral participation with a focus on underrepresented communities
- Knowledge of nonpartisan voter engagement and civic information initiatives.
- Passion for promoting fair political systems and increasing civic engagement.

SALARY AND BENEFITS
The salary for this position is $120,000 for one year.
Our generous benefits package includes 95 percent employer–sponsored health insurance, dental and vision insurance, paid holidays, vacation days, sick days, pre-tax transit benefits, and a generous 401(K) plan.
This position is hybrid (2-3 office days per week).

ADA SPECIFICATIONS
This position is primarily sedentary and is performed in an office setting. The physical demands of this position are limited to the ability to use a computer, telephone and standard office equipment, lift up to 25 lbs., bend, stoop, and carry materials used in financial activities.
Occasional travel within United States may be necessary.
