LWVUS National Convention


The 2020 Convention Awards will reflect the League's goals of strengthening democracy for all, partnering with our communities through a diverse, equitable, and inclusive lens, and using the power of storytelling in a variety of ways.

The categories for this year's awards are:

Strengthening Democracy — This category showcases the work of Leagues that activate their grassroots network to empower voters and advocate change around key issues, such as protecting voting rights or increasing voter registration and turnout.

Due to the number of applications received from local and state Leagues this category has been split into two categories:

Building Equitable PartnershipsThis category highlights how Leagues have leveraged issues affecting their community through equitable and inclusive partnerships and with a DEI lens. For example, a League may have brought together a diverse group of local stakeholders to successfully enact improvements for voters at polling places, or worked with unique partners to bring attention to pressing public policies.

Equitable Partnerships Winner 2020 - Southern Monmouth County, NJ

 

Storytelling — This category showcases how Leagues have harnessed the power of storytelling to promote League priorities and recruit members and engagers through projects focused on our history, fundraising, DEI, or the Campaign for Making Democracy Work®. This could include videos, social media campaigns, presentations, email campaigns, webpages, or other activities that were presented to members of their community.
