This template can be used by League's looking to create or update their bylaws.
We know that many Leagues are facing the unexpected need to move an important meeting or event to a virtual platform. We also recognize that while there are many free or low-cost options this is still an unexpected expense for many.
To help assist with this we are offering up to $20 a month for three months for up to 250 Leagues. This will be offered on a first come, first served basis for Leagues who demonstrate need for the product.
As a part of League’s commitment to state and local Leagues and ILOs, we are providing resources to help members become even more effective in their roles, through an organizational membership with BoardSource.
There are certain terms that are unique to the League of Women Voters- "League Lingo." Some are listed here to help new members.
On April 18, 2017, the LWVUS board approved a new membership engagement model and new local League recognition standards. It provides the beginning framework for:
- Simplifying and streamlining internal administrative practices for state and local Leagues;
- Focusing our organizational energy on programs that make an impact; and
- Leveraging new interest in the organization while letting go of processes that slow us down.
This session focused on the why and how of creating powerful boards, including how to apply a diversity, equity, and inclusion lens to this process.
July 15-19, 2019 is National Disability Voter Registration Week. We spoke to Leagues from all over the country about the steps they are taking to empower individuals with disabilities and to create a more accessible and fair democracy for the larger communities the League serves.

Barb Clark is the Executive for Business (part of their League’s core leadership team) of the LWV of Greater Lafayette in Indiana. She shared actions taken at their board’s leadership transition meeting last year to help them identify how their League could move forward with diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) work.
Veda Florez is the Communications Director of the LWV of the Bay Area in California. Twenty local Leagues across nine counties in the Bay Area make up this ILO. During an LWV-sponsored webinar , Veda shared three actions the League has taken as part of their diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) work.
