The League opposed efforts to eviscerate the Office of Congressional Ethics (OCE). A proposal that would have gutted the only institution in the U.S. House that successfully enforces ethics rules was introduced by House Judiciary Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-VA) and adopted by the House Republican conference in a late night meeting prior to the first session of the 115th Congress. Thanks to grassroots action and public outcry Representatives backed down from the proposal. The League joined coalition partners on letters to Speaker Ryan and all Representatives on this issue.
