In honor of the League of Women Voters' 95th anniversary, here are 10 ways the League has helped strengthen our democracy and ensure equality over the past century.

The League joined other concerned environmental partners in opposing a bill Representative Whitfield's Ratepayer Protection Act. This legislation would allow states to opt out of participating in the Environmental Protection Agency's Clean Power Plan (CPP). The legislation also seeks to delay implementation of the CPP indefinitely until every polluter’s lawsuit has been litigated.

LWVUS sent a letter of support endorsing Senator Manchin’s Revitalizing the Economy of Coal Communities by Leveraging Local Activities and Investing More (RECLAIM) Act to recover and reinvest in Appalachian communities.

The League and coalition partners support passage of HR 9, the Climate Action Now Act.

The League joined a letter with other environmental partners in support of H.R. 2, the Moving Forward Act. This legislation is a bold infrastructure plan that will transform our transportation systems, transition the nation to cleaner sources of energy,  invest in clean and safe water, protect workers, preserve nature, and address the challenges from a changing climate to our communities.

LWVUS and 87 organizations sent comments to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) regarding proposed rulemaking for procedural changes to the Coastal Zone Management Act (CMZA).
