Immigration

The League joined a letter to President Trump in support of the Obama Administration's 2012 executive action on "Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals."

“The President’s executive action, while a good start, is just a temporary first step. Congress needs to stop pointing fingers and get to work on this vital issue." said national League President Elisabeth MacNamara.

What the League has done to lead efforts on comprehensive immigration reform and gun control legislation.

The organizers could not have ordered better weather. The skies were clear, the sun was bright and, for late August in Washington, D.C., the temperature was mild.

It struck me that the League doesn’t just ask others, like Congress to pass Comprehensive Immigration Reform or the Supreme Court to continue to protect voting rights, we foster civic life and democracy through the very way we operate.

As the Senate Judiciary Committee takes steps to tackle immigration reform, we must urge our Senators to allow immigrants to contribute to the U.S. economy and society by providing a clear pathway to citizenship.
