Every 10 years, after the collection of the decennial census data, states redraw their state and congressional district lines. Here are 10 things you should know about it works.

Whether on the ballot in 2020 or beyond, Leagues are continuing to work towards meaningful redistricting reform in their states. Let’s meet the Leagues leading this work!

A federal judge ruled in Miller v. Thurston that 150,000 signatures collected for a ballot measure that would create an independent redistricting commission in the state were invalid.

LWV of Arkansas filed a lawsuit seeking to reinstate the Arkansas Voters First ballot initiative calling for a constitutional amendment establishing a fair, citizen-led redistricting process on the November ballot.

LWVUS and Common Cause have written a letter to Census Bureau Director Steven Dillingham asking him to commit to a fair and accurate census count. 

The coronavirus outbreak has caused disruption for redistricting reform in states where groups have attempted to use the ballot initative process to reform the redistricting process.
