Mary Coltrane is a longtime League of Women Voters leader whose decades of service have focused on strengthening volunteer engagement, organizational leadership, and civic participation. She previously served as president of the League of Women Voters of Seattle before its transition to the League of Women Voters of Seattle–King County and later served for eight years on the League of Women Voters of Washington Board, including as president. 

Mary's League leadership informed her work with King County in community relations and program coordination, where she advanced public engagement and strengthened connections between government and the communities it serves. Following her retirement, she returned to active League leadership, inspired by the dedication of volunteers who sustain democracy through local, state, and national advocacy. 

Throughout her League service, Mary has worked to strengthen member engagement and organizational effectiveness by making League processes more accessible, transparent, and welcoming to new volunteers. She believes that an inclusive organization empowers more members to contribute their talents and leadership while ensuring the League continues to grow and serve communities across the country. 

Mary is committed to supporting strong grassroots Leagues, expanding civic participation, and helping build an organization where volunteers are equipped to advance the League's mission of empowering voters and defending democracy.
