LWVUS joined a letter to the National Archives disapproving of the Dept. of Homeland Security's (DHS) proposed request seeking permission to destroy civil rights complaints, sexual abuse records, and civil liberty violations before they could be investigated. The letter, joined by XX groups, implores the National Archives to instead maintain these records permanently for investigative and educational purposes.
The Latest from the League
The League sent a letter to the U.S. House urging them to pass immigration reform and ensure that a path to citizenship is available to all who remain legally in the United States.
It struck me that the League doesn’t just ask others, like Congress to pass Comprehensive Immigration Reform or the Supreme Court to continue to protect voting rights, we foster civic life and democracy through the very way we operate.
