Stories from Around the State

On May 14, 2025, the League of Women Voters of Florida and LULAC filed to intervene in a lawsuit challenging Florida's HB 1205, which attacks the ballot initiative process in the state.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — LWVFL, with SPLC, filed emergency litigation to reopen Florida's voter registration after Gov. DeSantis missed extending the Oct. 7 deadline.

The following is a joint statement from LWVUS CEO Celina Stewart and LWV Florida co-presidents Cecilie Scoon and Debbie Chandler.

Voting is a fundamental right. Yet voters with disabilities face persistent barriers to casting a ballot.
