Stories from Around the State

Voters voting by mail in 46 states are at risk of being disenfranchised due to delays with the US Postal Service.

In 2018, voters in Missouri made it clear that transparency, reforming campaign finance, & ending gerrymandering were important steps to be taken in reforming our democracy.

A St. Louis attorney who filed a slate of voter reform petitions in Missouri is suing Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft, alleging that Ashcroft “intentionally cherry-picked portions of the initiative petitions and described them in as loaded and pejorative terms as possible, while leaving out aspects of the initiative petitions likely to be popular with voters.” League of Women Voters of Missouri president comments.

On November 6th, Missouri voters approved Amendment 1 with a 62% majority – demonstrating a commitment and desire to clean up Missouri politics.

In states across the country, the League is working to put the power to draw lines in the hands of the people, not politicians.
