Communities across the country, in Minnesota and beyond, are living in terror as federal immigration enforcement agents patrol, surveil, detain, arrest, disappear, injure, and kill civilians. 

We are witnessing firsthand the incredible power of everyday people to reject this assault on our communities, our Constitution, and our democracy. To continue exercising our people-power, we must understand what is happening and what rights we hold. 

The League of Women Voters condemns the escalating actions by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) that put people at risk, deny individuals their constitutional rights, and undermine the democratic values meant to protect us all. 

The League of Women Voters of Minnesota and the League of Women Voters of the United States issued the following joint statement in response to the federal immigration enforcement and escalation of federal military activity in Minnesota.

Political violence has no place in our democracy.

Leagues hosted 600+ events nationwide to celebrate National Voter Registration Day, partnering with public figures and organizations like Cyndi Lauper and the WNBA, going door-to-door to speak to potential voters, and empowering people at libraries, naturalization ceremonies, LUSH stores, and more!
