“The League of Women Voters of the United States condemns the racist and sexist statements made during former President Donald Trump’s recent campaign rally at Madison Square Garden in New York. Divisive and hateful rhetoric has no place in our society, especially in a democracy that thrives on respect, inclusion, and equality. These remarks not only demean individuals based on their gender and race but also perpetuate harmful stereotypes that undermine the fundamental principles of justice and fairness for all. Remarks like these are dangerous for our country.
“At the League of Women Voters, we are committed to fostering civic engagement and ensuring that every individual—regardless of race, gender, or identity— can participate fully in the democratic process.
“As we approach Election Day on Tuesday, November 5, we call on all leaders and candidates to use their platforms to unite, not divide, and to promote a culture of respect and accountability.
"Now more than ever, we must reject hate speech and stand together to uphold the values of equality and dignity that are essential to building a more just and representative democracy.”
