WASHINGTON — Today the League of Women Voters of the United States is pleased to announce new additions to its national boards of directors and trustees. Teresa Acuña, Tracy Adkison, and Ashley Allison were appointed to the national voting rights organization's leadership.
Acuña, Adkison, and Allison were all appointed to the League of Women Voters Education Fund 501c3 board of trustees. Additionally, Tracy Adkison will serve on the League of Women Voters of the United States 501c4 board of directors, replacing a board member who stepped down due to a job opportunity in December. All three women will serve through June 2024.
"It is essential that our national boards reflect the diversity of our country, and we are so proud to expand our League leadership to include these accomplished women,” said Dr. Deborah Ann Turner, board president of the League. “These dedicated women along with the current leadership have chosen to make it their life’s work to protect voters and defend our democracy. For democracy to prevail, we must ensure that all voices are at the table and can lead positive change.”
Acuña currently serves as the Deputy Director of the Good Jobs Initiative and senior policy advisor with the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Policy at the US Department of Labor.
Adkison is an award-winning project manager in Georgia and made history by being elected the first Black president of the League of Women Voters of Georgia, serving from 2017–2019.
Allison currently serves as Founder and CEO of the Turner Conoly Group, LLC. She was appointed in 2021 as a Harvard University School Institute for Politics Fellow and is a political commentator for CNN.
Acuna, Adkison, and Allison join the League’s board as the organization is undertaking a structure transformation plan aimed to equip and modernize the 103-year-old voting rights organization for the next century.

With active Leagues in all 50 states, including the District of Columbia and the Virgin Islands, and more than 750 Leagues across the country, we engage in advocacy, education, litigation, and organizing to protect every American’s freedom to vote.
In addition to voting rights, the League advocates for numerous issues relating to democracy, such as campaign finance, women’s health, immigration rights, and DC Statehood. The organization’s Making Democracy Work® initiative, launched in 2016, focuses on improving elections, redistricting, and abolishing the Electoral College.
