The League of Women Voters of the United States today released the following statement regarding allegations related to voter registration events conducted by a local Kansas League:
"The League of Women Voters (the League) is aware of the allegations regarding voter registration events conducted by the League of Women Voters of Leavenworth County and the Kansas Attorney General's inquiry. We understand that League leadership in Kansas is cooperating fully with the inquiry. The League is committed to complying with all federal, state, and local election laws governing voter registration activities.
“Compliance with all federal, state, and local election laws is a fundamental expectation of League voter registration activities nationwide. For more than a century, the League's voter registration work has been guided by nonpartisanship, legal compliance, and the integrity of the voter registration process. We continue to reinforce best practices to ensure our voter registration efforts meet the highest standards of ethics, transparency, and compliance.
