Press Release / Last Updated:

PR Daily’s Nonprofit Communications Awards grants VOTE411 two additional honors for best marketing campaign and visual storytelling

VOTE411 wins honorable mention in four additional categories: advocacy or awareness campaign, COVID-19 communications, website, and video

WASHINGTON – This week the League of Women Voters Education Fund was awarded PR Daily’s 2021 Nonprofit Communications Campaign of the Year for VOTE411.org. The nonpartisan election website drew more than six million users looking for election information to the site in 2020.

“Voting in the middle of a global pandemic was a challenge for millions of Americans navigating their health and safety through misinformation and changes to election rules and dates. VOTE411 was the most trusted solution, providing voters with all of the information needed to cast their ballot throughout the 2020 election cycle,” said Dr. Deborah Ann Turner, board president of the League of Women Voters. “These awards are a testament to the hard work our dedicated staff and volunteers put into VOTE411 all year long to make it the trusted nonpartisan resource for millions of voters every election.”

In addition to Campaign of the Year, VOTE411 was also recognized for Best Marketing Campaign and Best Visual Storytelling.

“We responded to the COVID-19 disruptions by running targeted digital ads for VOTE411 to provide voters with the most up-to-date information about elections where they live,” said Sarah Courtney, chief communications officer of the League of Women Voters. “Flooding social media with trusted information about elections is the best way to counter mis- and disinformation, and these campaigns do exactly that by making VOTE411 accessible to voters before they encounter any lies about voting.”

The League of Women Voters worked with Vanguard Communications to develop a video series showing viewers (both in English and Spanish) how to use the VOTE411 website, answering all their questions about the 2020 elections, and preparing voters to cast their ballots.

“Providing timely, state-specific COVID-19 alerts, important election tools, and candidate information in Spanish was a dream come true and helped us reach more voters with accessible information,” said Jeanette Senecal, senior director of mission impact of the League Women Voters. “Elevating this content through the League’s largest marketing campaign and video series earned millions of impressions for VOTE411 and helped reach more women, LGBTQIA+, low-income, Black, and Spanish-speaking voters than ever before.”

PR Daily’s 2021 Nonprofit Communications Awards winners represent the people, teams, and organizations whose campaigns, partnerships, and projects helped build awareness of or raise funds for important causes, initiatives, organizations and programs.
