At the national level, League activities are coordinated and staffed by two distinct but complementary organizations: The League of Women Voters of the United States (LWVUS) and the League of Women Voters Education Fund (LWVEF).

POSITION SUMMARY:

Provide superior support to the Senior Director of Mission Impact and the entire Mission Impact department responsible for developing and implementing the League of Women Voters’ education and advocacy activities of this national non-profit organization. Responsibilities include managing calendars, creating and modifying documents, coordinating travel, assisting with internal and external events, maintaining tracking documents, drafting and reviewing correspondence, and supporting report generation. Undertakes special projects as assigned. This position reports to the Senior Director of Mission Impact. 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead and/or assist in the preparation of briefing materials and background information for department leads. 
  • Assist with implementing and monitoring various department programs, including those focused on voter protection, registration, education, and mobilization, and maintaining documentation that tracks goals and impact. 
  • Support relevant staff on various election-related projects, including an emphasis on reaching underrepresented voters.  
  • Independently create well-organized, grammatically correct memos, reports, and presentations.  
  • Perform research as requested or as need is discerned on own initiative. 
  • Make travel arrangements, including transportation and lodging, for department leads. 
  • Process travel expenses and other expenses in adherence to LWV policy. 
  • Support department leads in coalition and partner organization engagement, special events, and large projects. 
  • Provide administrative and technical assistance (particularly with webinar software and/or voter file database) to other staff as well as to state and local Leagues.  
  • Support logistics of onboarding new members of the department. 
  • Create or assist in creating informational materials including case studies, presentations, and project updates. 
  • Manage calendar, including scheduling of appointments, preparing meeting materials, briefing papers and resources, making necessary arrangements, and prioritizing commitments. 
  • Answer and screen telephone calls and assigned public mailboxes in accordance with general guidance provided by the Senior Director of Mission Impact and other department leads. 
  • Support department administration, including planning and executing department planning sessions, as required. 
  • Support the development of status reports as required to keep staff and the Board of Directors informed on progress and activities in the department.  
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS: 

  • High School diploma required. 
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience, a plus. 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: 

  • One to two years of experience in project implementation is a plus. 
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize work and complete tasks within assigned time periods. 
  • The person must be able to be flexible in changing circumstances, able to deal with various issues, and able to handle multiple tasks concurrently. 
  • As the League is non-partisan, the incumbent must also be able to maintain a non-partisan approach to people and projects. 
  • A team player who is adept at building both relationships and partnerships internally and externally to the League. 
  • The individual must possess excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills. 
  • The individual must be able to exercise a high level of attention to detail. 
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office and Office 365 required. 
  • Customer service oriented and ability to work as a member of a team in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Experience with VAN, Salesforce, Salsa-Engage, website back-end systems, Zoom, and OutreachCircle a plus.  
  • Experience in grassroots or field/political organizing and/or nonprofit environments is a plus. 

SALARY & BENEFITS

The salary range for this position is $55,000.  We have a generous benefits package that includes 95 percent employer-sponsored health insurance, dental and vision insurance, paid holidays, vacation days, sick days, pre-tax transit benefits, and the opportunity to contribute to a 401(K) plan.
