Policy Intern

About the League

The League of Women Voters of the United States (LWVUS) is a nonpartisan, grassroots membership organization dedicated to empowering voters and defending democracy. Founded in 1920 as an outgrowth of the struggle to win voting rights for women, the League has more than 500,000 members and supporters and more than 750 local and state affiliates in all 50 states and DC. The League continues to lead efforts in the voting rights arena to remove barriers to registering to vote and casting a ballot through public education, state and federal policy reform, and litigation in state and federal courts.

The LWVUS Advocacy team tracks and analyzes federal legislation, develops and executes the League’s federal advocacy strategy with Congress and the Administration, and supports state and local Leagues in state and local policy and legislative advocacy. Advocacy efforts are on voter access and protection, redistricting, money in politics, and our Urgent Issues: the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA), climate change, gun safety, immigration, and reproductive justice.
