WASHINGTON, DC— As the countdown continues to the League of Women Voters' Unite & Rise for Voting Rights Day of Action on Saturday, August 8, communities across the country are responding with extraordinary energy and urgency, marking the largest coordinated voting rights mobilization to date ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.
Communities throughout all 50 states and Washington, DC will take part in the nationwide mobilization on August 8, with state and local Leagues hosting more than 350 events, demonstrating the growing public frustration with efforts to make voting more complicated, costly, and less accessible for eligible citizens. Together, these events will honor the legacy of the Voting Rights Act while inspiring the next generation of civic participation and equipping voters to push back against policies that threaten to disenfranchise them from voting. From rallies and teach-ins to voter registration drives, volunteer opportunities, and community celebrations, Americans will come together with one clear message: voters—not politicians—should decide the future of our democracy.
"As attacks on our freedom to vote continue, Americans are responding to our constitutional crisis by organizing, showing up, and making their voices heard," said Celina Stewart, CEO of the League of Women Voters. "The scale of this nationwide effort demonstrates that people across every corner of the country are committed to protecting our democracy and ensuring every eligible voter can participate."
The League invites everyone to be part of this historic day of action by:
- Finding and attending a local event;
- Registering for the virtual Unite & Rise Pep Rally on August 6;
- Checking their voter registration and making a voting plan through VOTE411; and
- Sharing the movement with friends, family, and neighbors.
