On August 8, 2026, join the League and our partners as we host a nationwide day of civic action in honor of the anniversary of the Voting Rights Act of 1965.

Leagues and partners will lead hundreds of activations across the country centered on increasing voter engagement, turnout, and education, with particular emphasis on young voters and community partnerships.

The League has also identified and will be working on events in the cities below in honor of their links to the history of the Voting Rights Act:

  • PHOENIX, AZ: This action will reflect the changing electorate and ongoing voting rights debates in the Southwest, with a focus on Latino/a+ Indigenous communities.

  • BAY AREA, CA: Join LWV in our call to protect and expand the VRA and demand our elected officials stand up against the rising wave of segregation.

  • ATLANTA, GA
    • August 7: We're hosting a community celebration to connect with neighbors and learn more a bout civic work in this community! Join us for good food, live music, and more.
    • August 8: This teach-in brings together veterans of the voting-rights and labor movements with the young organizers carrying the work forward.

  • DETROIT, MI: Join us for an event that combines politics with poetry for an engaging, transformative day. We’re excited to welcome Celina Stewart, Chief Executive Officer of the League of Women Voters of the United States, alongside colleagues and partners.

  • PHILADELPHIA, PA: We're hosting an interactive teach-in and community outreach event that explores voting rights, redistricting, and barriers to participation faced by disabled voters and individuals impacted by incarceration.
