Tell Congress to Reject Strict Voter ID Requirements

Congress continues to introduce bills that would create unnecessary barriers to voting by requiring voters to present documents like government-issued photo IDs to vote.

These rules are completely unnecessary; it is already illegal to cast a fraudulent ballot by impersonating a voter. Requiring a strict list of IDs to vote in federal elections is is a blatant attempt to silence and divide us. It simply creates another barrier to voting.

There are many communities of eligible voters who would be unnecessarily burdened by the requirements of the Voter ID Act. The right to vote is protected by the Constitution, and election officials have decades of experience verifying voters’ identities at the polls using a variety of documents. Many voters do not have access to the strict list of documents accepted under this bill, and will thereby be denied their constitutionally protected right to vote.

Americans do not need MORE obstacles to vote. Tell Congress to oppose the Voter ID Act
