Kayla Vix is the Director of Field Communications for the League of Women Voters. She works closely with staff and state leaders to build and implement the League’s field messaging. In addition to managing the day-to-day internal communications, Kayla works to develop a variety of communications materials to support the hundreds of state and local chapters of the organization.


 

LWVUS and partners filed a lawsuit challenging the federal government’s decision to rush the Census counting period to a close amid a national public health emergency.

LWV of the United States and LWV of California, Florida, Texas filed an amicus brief in New York Immigrant Coalition v. Trump, a case which challenges President Trump’s executive order to block undocumented individuals from being counted in the U.S. Census.

A First Circuit Court judge upheld a lower court ruling to accept an agreement waiving the witness/notary requirements for mail-in ballots throughout the 2020 elections due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

A federal judge ruled in the League of Women Voters of North Carolina’s case that the North Carolina State Board of Elections must provide a notice and cure process for absentee ballots marked for rejection.

LWV of Ohio and partners are challenging Ohio’s flawed system of matching voter signatures on absentee ballots and absentee ballot applications.

The state of Rhode Island has agreed to eliminate witness/notary requirements for vote by mail throughout the 2020 elections due to the COVID-19 pandemic. 

LWV of Pennsylvania and partners filed a motion to intervene in Trump v. Boockvar, a case seeking to limit vote-by-mail options in Pennsylvania. The League and its partners seek to intervene on behalf of impacted voters.

LWV of Connecticut filed a federal lawsuit seeking to make mail-in voting available to every eligible Connecticut voter during the COVID-19 pandemic. 

The League of Women Voters of the United States filed a friend of the court brief in the federal case that supports ratifying the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) as completed by the states of Virginia, Illinois, and Nevada.
