Illinoisans may have a chance to vote in November to put an independent commission in charge of drawing political maps.
Michael Kolenc, campaign manager for Yes! for Independent Maps, was in Quincy on Wednesday to promote a petition drive that is well on its way to the goal of 300,000 signers. Although that sounds like a lot of signatures, Kolenc said polls show that about 70 percent of Illinois residents support a change from the current mapping system.
