League of Women Voters Weighs in on Charter Schools

The politically nonpartisan League of Women Voters of Nashville has adopted positions on several charter school issues that are before the General Assembly.

The group has staked out a position that charter schools should remain the responsibility of local school boards. But if the state identifies a need for additional charter schools, the group says, it should be the state’s responsibility to approve, monitor and provide funding for the new school.
