Rights Debated After Ruling on Protest-Free Abortion Clinic Zones

The high court struck down a 35-foot protest-free zone outside abortion clinics in Massachusetts, the justices unanimous in their ruling that the buffer zones violate the First Amendment rights of protesters.

The League of Women Voters of Massachusetts expressed deep disappointment in the ruling.
“With this ruling, the Supreme Court has severely compromised the right of women to access reproductive health facilities without the threat of fear, intimidation or physical harm.” said Anne Borg, co-president of the state’s League. “Today’s decision puts thousands of women and healthcare providers at greater risk.”
