Kohout began participating with the League of Women Voters of Door County on the “Observer Corps,” where a person sits in on various County Board and committee meetings and simply watches and listens.
“I didn’t always like what I saw,” she said.
Then Supervisor Neal DeBaker chose not to run for re-election, and people told her, “You’re here all the time. You should run.”
