League Celebrates 2020 Census Will Not Include a Citizenship Question

Press Release / Last Updated:

WASHINGTON - Late Tuesday the Trump Administration announced the 2020 Census forms will be printed without a citizenship question. The announcement came days after the Supreme Court blocked the question. League of Women Voters president Chris Carson issued the following statement:

“We are pleased that the Administration has dropped the citizenship question from the official Census form. For more than a year now, the threat of a citizenship question has instilled fear and chaos in many immigrant communities. We are relieved this threat is now gone. Now is the time to ensure the Census is fully funded and every living person in the United States is counted. The League will be working in communities nationwide to ensure we have the most complete count of our collective population in 2020.”
