Washington, DC - The following is a statement on the death of civil rights leader Julian Bond by Elisabeth MacNamara, President of the League of Women Voters of the U.S.:

“The League of Women Voters is truly saddened by the death of Julian Bond, a life-long champion of justice and equality and a devoted and energetic leader for civil rights in America. His passion and voice will be sorely missed. The League is committed to honoring his legacy in our ongoing work to keep our elections free, fair and accessible for every eligible voter.”
