LWV Expands Executive Leadership Team and Announces Staff Promotions

WASHINGTON — Today the League of Women Voters of the United States is pleased to announce a new leadership structure that will expand the organization’s work to empower voters and defend democracy. The 103-year-old voting rights organization commences the new year with the promotion of six esteemed staffers in the national office.

“Our staff at the national office is a dynamic team of advocates who tirelessly work to support our grassroots network of over 700 state and local leagues across the country,” said Virginia Kase Solomón, CEO of the League of Women Voters of the US. “I am confident the professionalism and expertise of our highly qualified staff will build upon the power of the League to defend, expand, and protect voting rights for all.”

The League of Women Voters is delighted to announce the following promotions in the organization structure:

Adam Ambrogi joined the League in 2022 and serves as chief of external affairs. In his role, he leverages his experience in strategy, vision, and relationship development to support the growth of the League's impact and influence to strengthen democracy. Before joining the League, Adam served for over eight years as director of the Elections and Voting Program at Democracy Fund.

Alma Couverthie joined the League in 2019 and serves as chief programs officer. Alma is responsible for leading the integration and development of the League’s voter empowerment programs with the grassroots power to protect voting rights in pursuit of true democracy reform. In her previous role, Alma served as the League’s first national organizing director, spearheading its regional organizing structure and digital organizing component.

Ayo Atterberry joined the League in 2021 and serves as chief of culture. In this role, she oversees field governance, organizational structure, and the League's organizational capacity to ensure mission readiness. A nonprofit leader with over two decades of experience, her journey with the League began as a member of the national board of directors in 2020.

Morgan Murray joined the League in 2019 and serves as voter engagement program manager. In this role, she oversees pass-through grant projects and supports state and local Leagues across the country for voter registration, GOTV, pro-democracy, and other election-related initiatives. In her previous role at the League, Morgan served as program coordinator, responsible for administering grant programs and supporting state and local Leagues across the country on the national redistricting campaign and other election-related initiatives.

Phillip Long joined the League in 2020 and serves as grants financial manager. In his role, he is responsible for streamlining the League’s accounting program and focusing on grant tracking and reporting. Phillip previously served as assistant controller.

Rommel Sandino joined the League in 2022 and serves as national organizing director. In this role, he is responsible for developing and executing strategies to build the collective power to win transformative change on voter rights and achieve an inclusive democracy where all people can thrive. Before joining the League, Rommel served as Senior Organizer of Immigration at Community Change.
