LWV Statement on President Trump Testing Positive for COVID-19
WASHINGTON – Today the League of Women Voters board president Dr. Deborah Turner issued the following statement:
“The League of Women Voters is saddened to learn that President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump are now among the more than 7.3 million Americans who have been infected with the COVID-19 virus. We wish them both a safe and speedy recovery.
“This development is a great reminder to all Americans how important it is to follow the guidance of public health officials to ensure that the health and safety of everyone is protected. This guidance includes frequent handwashing, social distancing, and wearing masks.
“Every person should have access to the same quality of care that the President and First Lady are no doubt receiving. This is an opportunity to elevate the need for an equitable system of healthcare in this country. We are all in this together.”
