Celina Stewart, a nationally recognized voting rights attorney and champion of American democracy, has been named by Northeastern Law’s Judith Olans Brown Forum for Women in the Law (WIL) as its Practitioner-in-Residence for 2026–2027.
A federal District Court heard arguments today in a lawsuit challenging President Trump’s March 31 executive order concerning mail-in voting. Plaintiffs argue that the order violates the US Constitution and federal law and risks mass disenfranchisement of eligible voters.
The federal court in New Hampshire struck down the state’s anti-voter law enacted in 2024, declaring it unconstitutional. The law, known as HB 1569, created some of the strictest registration requirements in the nation and, among other things, required documentary proof of citizenship for voter registration.
The League of Women Voters condemns the inhumane conditions at Delaney Hall detention center, escalating force against peaceful protesters, and the broader harms caused by the administration’s mass deportation agenda, calling for accountability and dignity in the immigration system.
