On Tuesday, Sept. 24, the League of Women Voters of Georgia will join other civic organizations in a massive 50-state drive to register voters for elections that will be held in November.

"'What the league is trying to do is make sure everyone is educated about what early voting is, every vote is actually cast and everyone who is registered to vote is allowed to vote,' said Elizabeth Poythress, state president of the league. 'The main thing is to vote.'"

“A study by the Associated Press found that legitimate votes have been rejected after many states passed tougher voter ID laws in order to prevent fraud. ... When Edward and Mary Weidenbener went to vote in Indiana's primary in May, they didn't realize that state law required them to bring government photo IDs such as a driver's license or passport.”
