With the new year comes more litigation. In the past year, the League has continued our work of fighting against anti-voter bills and purges, challenges to new district maps, and pushing back against the increased attacks on reproductive rights. Here are a handful of the issues you may want to keep an eye on in 2022. 

In the past year, the League has joined litigation to fight back against the flood of anti-abortion bills that have been put forward across the country.   

For those who experience pregnancy, our basic freedoms hinge on our ability to make choices about our reproductive health. Our physical and psychological health, ability to gain and maintain employment, financial resources, and even what we can and cannot eat are all dependent on our reproductive choices. 

Changes to election laws due to COVID-19 creates an opportunity for election reform in some southern states.

LWV of Mississippi, along with other plaintiffs and civil rights groups that challenged Mississippi’s burdensome absentee ballot requirements, celebrated new protections put in place for absentee voters as the state conducts an historic election during the COVID-19 pandemic.
